Apprenticeship Week and the Creative Industries
Apprenticeship Week has been launched 6- 10 February 2012 by Business Minister Vince Cable.It’s set to be the biggest Apprenticeship Week so far, with over 500 events across the country celebrating the achievements of learners and employers. Skillset (the sector skills council for the creative industries) in partnership with the National Apprenticeships Service (NAS), and supported by the Government, have pledged to work with 300 businesses in industries such as fashion, media and design to deliver 500 apprenticeships. The first places are set to be offered in September 2012. Many of these businesses will be small firms who from next week will be able to apply for an incentive payment of £1,500 to take on their first apprentice in 2012/13. Read more > Apprenticeships
Brighton Hove Sussex Businesses winning at The London Games 2012
Brighton & Hove Business were delighted to secure LOCOG representatives – the huge body organising The London Games 2012 – to attend and provide informative presentations to businesses at the forthcoming Autumn Business Show 2011 covering tendering availability, the thousands of jobs that need filling, along with information about The Torch Relay Route across Sussex and The Legacy. One of very few UK business shows to have done so.
Gerry Walsh , procurement director at The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) has recently confimed that procurement is around 80% complete, with expectations to be complete by the end of the first quarter 2012.

Brighton & Hove Business – charities appeal
Brighton & Hove Business were pleased to support 5 local and Sussex charities during Spring 2011, which included The Mayor’s Charities – 2010 – 2011 appeal – The Martlet’s Hospice, The Sussex Heart Charity, MacMillan Cancer Support and The Alzheimer’s Society, and Sussex Air Ambulance.
We have to thank all businesses for their kind generosity shown towards the charities when attending or exhibiting at the recent Brighton & Hove Business Show, 7 April 2011, and providing donations.
The Brighton & Hove Business Show also wish to thank the fabulous Savage Caricatures who spent the day busy at work providing fun drawings of our local politicians, councillors and business people attending The Show, with donations being made towards the charities funds.
